If you see a cart with a fluffy and cute caddie, you know David Harmon is on the course. What started as a way to get a puppy out in the fresh air has turned into a more permanent arrangement.
"I can't leave the house without her. She loves being on the course as much as I do."
And what's not to love?! David says, "We have some of the best greens in the mid-south. It's incredible to be able to play this course daily."
Daily play brings the club championship your way! Right, David? David has won the last two club championships at RidgePointe.
"We love Ridgepointe simply because of the people," Mollie Vance said. When Mollie and her husband, Dylan, moved from Memphis, Tenn., they knew that joining a country club would be a great way to meet new people and come to feel at home in Jonesboro.
"We chose RidgePointe because from day one everyone -- both members and staff -- was so nice, laid back, and welcomed us with open arms," Mollie said.
In the months since they joined, those friendly faces have developed into life-long relationships while spending time on the courts. The Vances have also further developed their tennis and pickleball games while here.
"The RidgePointe tennis pros go above and beyond to elevate everyone's tennis game," Dylan said. "They make sure you're having a good time while doing it, too."
The Vances hope to grow their family here, too.
"We do not have kids yet, but we look forward to them growing up in this wonderful community that has become home for us."
Since the club’s inception, Thad and Ingrid Brown have been a member of the RidgePointe family.
“My husband is an avid golfer so the course was the main attraction,” Ingrid says. “But over the years we’ve grown to love the surrounding community — most of our neighbors are now dear friends! There is always someone to meet for a quick dinner or glass of wine.” And someone to join in a project or two.
Together with a group of fellow members, the Browns recently led a renovation of the Pointe dining room and bar. “We wanted to help create a gathering place for after-work cocktails and a place to enjoy a delicious meal that is just right around the corner.”
"We love dining at The Pointe. The creative menu and weekly specials just keep getting better! Delicious dinner with innovative cocktails definitely make a great date night!"
Golfing together has been a vital part of the Garys' 25-year membership at RidgePointe.
"We love being together playing a game we both love," Sara says. "Our course is a beautiful place to be. We have great golfing friends, and a truly wonderful Golf Pro with Deane Pappas."
But it's more than just golf to them.
"We have the best community in Northeast Arkansas," David says. "Where else can you live, play, eat, and socialize in the same neighborhood?! Fun is always a short golf cart ride away!"
Matthew and Katie Hill describe RidgePointe in one word - "FUN!"
But it is so much more than that according to Katie. "It's the sense of community at this club that makes membership so appealing for us.
"There is an activity for each family member, and wonderful people to enjoy it with.
The Hills are often found enjoying time with friends on the tennis courts, dining, and swimming. It's an all-around experience for this young family. For five-year-old Henleigh it's all about the Hangout (room for youth and teens), "and the ice machine!"
Chamblee says, "The people that I have known and met at RidgePointe have been awesome. I have loved doing activities with some of my best friends, and of course, with my family. I get to spend time with my sister, daughter, niece and nephew playing tennis, which is something we all enjoy."
Brooke echoed that sentiment by saying, "I love that we have the opportunity to do an activity together as a family that we all enjoy, and will hopefully continue as our kids grow up. And when we are not playing tennis, we love spending time at the RidgePointe pool.”
Each year on the night before Thanksgiving, RidgePointe hosts their annual seafood buffet. It’s an event we look forward to each year!
There is something scrumptious for everyone in the family to enjoy! We are so thankful for the opportunity to slow down and spend time with friends and family.
Over the last year, there have not been many days that go by without seeing JJ Diaz at the club. His love for sports keeps him busy on the court and on the course.
“RidgePointe is a great place to get involved with individual and group activities and events — something for the whole family to join in,” JJ says.
JJ’s favorite events are the Pickleball Club Championship and the Cup Match. The Cup Match mimics the Ryder Cup format and opens with bagpipers on the 18th green, and that is something JJ says everyone needs to come out and see for themselves. Come out and experience competition and camaraderie on a top-notch course with the greatest of people.
“Of course, everyone plays hard to compete for bragging rights,” he said. “But it’s more that we all enjoy spending time together and getting to know everyone’s story. They are all different, but always interesting.”
Despite wanting to live on the course for her husband’s love of golf, Trish Rawlins did not play.
“I reluctantly started playing in 2013 because my husband bought me some golf clubs and two pairs of really cute shoes!,” Trish remembers. It didn’t take long for her to become a regular and now she sits at the LGA president.
Being active in the RP LGA has given Trish the opportunity to learn from fellow golfers like Linda Parchman, who has golfed for 65 years. For the last 18 years, Linda has spent much time on the RidgePointe course and can read the greens with precision.
These two ladies love LGA Play Days (Tuesdays @ 4:00pm and Thursdays @9:30am) when members join to scramble nine holes. Each time they select new partners and choose additional games to keep things challenging.
“Being a part of the LGA gives me opportunity to meet new members and enjoy those I already know,” Linda says.
A sentiment that Trish agrees with whole-heartedly. “When you spend time on the golf course, you’re sharing more than just a game,” Trish says. “You’re building lasting friendships.”
Ashley and Clay Spencer were no strangers to RidgePointe, having been members years earlier.
They knew right where to turn when searching for a social outlet during the pandemic -- they returned to serve a second round of fun with a renewed membership. This time they brought sons Henry and William with them.
"Henry takes tennis lessons, William golfs with Clay, and we all play pickleball," Ashley says. "It's great exercise, a way to meet new people, and we love seeing so many of our friends!"
They definitely have a passion for pickleball, but admit that the social aspect is the biggest draw.
"We are here one or two nights a week," Clay said. "It's an entertaining place to be with so many activities and so many of our friends here.”
Spending time with their family is of utmost importance to Al and Pam Heringer.
They are able to do more of that by living in the RidgePointe community for 18 years. In those years, their family has grown through their children's marriages and the addition of grandchildren -- all of whom have become a part of the RidgePointe community themselves.
"We love seeing our grandchildren participate in the golf and tennis programs," she says. "We love dining at the Pointe, too."
Family and dining are frequently combined with family dinners and holiday brunches at RidgePointe's upscale dining room, the Pointe.
"Big Al and I love being surrounded by such wonderful neighbors and a club that affords us many opportunities for memory making with our family," Pam says.
