Michael was educated at the La Academia de Gastronomia de Madrid, Spain and holds a Culinary Arts Degree. Upon graduating, he interned at The Grand Plaza Hotel, Madrid and then moved on to apprentice at The Dorchester Hotel in London, England. He is an ACF (American Culinary Federation) Certified Executive Chef. Jerez was awarded the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Presidential Award, Professionalism Award of the Year, Chef of the Year, Culinarian of the Year, and various other prestigious culinary honors.
He is a recipient of numerous gold medals in state and national culinary competitions.
He has held chefs positions at various clubs and resorts in Arizona and Texas and owned and operated his own Italian restaurant in Mesa, Arizona from 1991 to 1999.
Michael is married to his wife Shelley and have a six-year old son Ari. They plan to attend the local Catholic Church when they move here.
